50 years ago, citizens in society were probably predicting that the year 2015 would be the year of flying cars and teleportation. Sadly, the cars are still only accessible on the road and the only teleportation we're doing is in our dreams. Since the day a sliver of technology presented itself on Earth to self driving cars, technology has taken over the world.
You will often hear, "We humans are way too reliant on technology". And indeed, this is very much true. I'm not saying you should remove all the lightbulbs in my house or disconnect my AC, but I am just as reliant as the next person. How much is tip? Oh, I can use my phone to calculate it. Are we going the right way or did we make a wrong turn? Wait, let me just use the GSP installed on my phone. I still haven't chosen a restaurant and my mom is flipping out! Oh, I can just SIRI it and have her decide for me.
When it comes to communication, think about the way people used to communicate maybe 50 or 60 years ago. If I wanted to say something to you, I'd have to write you a letter. Then wait a week for you to possibly write back? I wouldn't even know if you received my letter. I can hardly wait 2 minutes for a reply, let alone a week. Now, we have google glasses, telling me how many feet away you are from me.
There is a love-hate feeling with having to do nothing when trying to have a conversation with someone you aren't physically with. If I could just sit around and have my subconscious mind make all my decisions I would gain an extra 15 pounds, and my head would potentially be fried.
Life would lose purpose, and my thoughts, decisions and actions would be carried out through a little electronic device. Communication would lose meaning and personal touch, and eventually the world would be swarmed with robots. Technology is a blessing and a curse in this world.

I am only manly because I drive a big truck
This commercial in my opinion was sexist and stereotypical. Of course, the part where the supposedly brought in "real actors" must of created some sort of attraction to certain viewers. What was most realistic about this commercial was that they asked different groups of people (e.g. single women, kids, bearded men).
I found it a bit insulting to have people speak highly of the idea that being manly or macho meant having a big truck. This type of assumption and comment is purely based off of first impressions and appearance. When the two photos were compared, everyone automatically said the guy standing next to the truck is cooler. When this part of the commercial played, all I thought about was the saying,"Bigger is better".
I also recall a women saying that the man driving the smaller car would be a guy your mother would want you to bring home, versus what you would really want to bring home, which is the man standing by the truck. This just made me realize even more how sexist our society still is. I believe that you do not need big things and fancy cars to be considered manly, and that being manly in general is overrated.

Fresh Cuts
I laugh at this idea generally. Whoever came up with the idea of giving misbehaving children treacherous haircuts was both brilliant and comical. Overall, I believe that when you are a child, you are experimenting with the rules. And as parents, they have the authority to discipline their kids in a way someone else may not.
I do believe in a certain kind of punishment for children when they misbehave, although I don't believe this would personally be my choice in punishment. If my parents decided to shave my head when I did something bad, I would probably cry for a week straight and never do the bad things ever again.
In other situations, kids just don't listen. You come across the kind of children who are very obedient and the kind of children who are reckless and rebellious. I think this form of punishment also creates a laugh for those around them, just not the victim of the actual haircut.
I don't think anyone really wants to harm their children in any way, but when boundaries and limits are pushed, you have to do what you have to do. And if that means giving your child the haircut of a lifetime, then so be it.
